What is GYROTONIC® Exercise? The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® method a holistic exercise concept that focuses on the whole body and the spinal column. It is a rotary movement system that unites far eastern wisdom about the body’s energy with modern kinetics. The GYROTONIC® method works with self-contained three-dimensional movements that are performed against a steady resistance without disruption. Every motion is conducted in a melodic rhythmical way and synchronized with the corresponding breathing pattern. Specialized GYROTONIC® exercise equipment allows for total mobility and does not restrict the diversity or intensity of movements.
-
Why is GYROTONIC® good for people? The human body is designed to work as one harmonious system, to follow arcing and spiraling paths of motion, and to transition from one movement to the next smoothly and efficiently. Gyrotonic® Method creator, Juliu Horvath, designed a specialized line of equipment around these natural movement patterns. Because Gyrotonic® equipment is highly adjustable, it can be customized to fit each person's unique physique and ability, adapting for things such as height, arm/leg length and range of motion.

What is the difference between GYROTONIC® and PilatesPilates uses spring resistance while Gyrotonic® uses a pulley and weight system. Gyrotonic® is more circular or 3 dimensional. Pilates is more linear or 2 dimensional. Gyrotonic® is unique for its circling, spiraling and undulating motion patterns that help strengthen all of the body's internal support structure

How much does the GRYOTONIC® Equipment cost? The studio equipment costs around $6000 and is, not surprisingly, much more substantial. But for home use on a budget, this machine gets the job done. Do not buy this machine if you are hoping for something similar to a Bowflex for standard weight training. Gyrotonic is not like weight training.
